According to local media, the tornado with hail and strong winds affected the towns of Greenwood and New Whiteland, in Johnson County, south of the city of Indianapolis.
After carrying out search and rescue efforts, the deputy fire chief of the city of Bargersville, Michael Pruitt, specified that there are no deaths or injuries.
For his part, the local fire chief, Eric Funkhauser, specified that 75 houses registered moderate to severe damage. He explained that these are located in the neighborhoods of Kensington Grove, Golden Grove and Clary Crossing. Due to the fall of large trees, several roads were temporarily closed.
The Duke Energy company reported that there were power outages starting at 4:15 p.m. local time, when the storms began to occur.
Initially the service interruptions affected more than 12,000 customers, but as of 8:00 p.m. Sunday, just over 3,700 Johnson County customers were reported without power. Bargersville Administrator Dan Cartwright said full service restoration could take up to 48 hours.
