A man was accused of committing a hate crime, after murdering a 6-year-old boy with 26 stab wounds and leaving the child's mother with serious injuries, just because both were of Palestinian origin and Muslims. The homicide occurred on the morning of Saturday the 14th, in the two-story home of Joseph Czuba, 71, located in Plainfield, Illinois. The man, who occupied the second floor of the house, rented the ground floor to Hannan Shahin, who lived there with her young son Wadea Al-Fayoume. At 11 a.m. on Saturday, Czuba burst into Shahin's bedroom door to discuss the bloody conflict between Hamas and Israel. The mother managed to flee and lock herself in the bathroom after she saw Czuba take a knife. From there she called 911, but the subject took advantage of that moment to go to the child and stab him to death. That same Monday, Joseph Czuba appeared in local court, where he was arrested and denied bail.
