Specialists warn of a catastrophe due to works on the Mayan Train


Mexico.- Between impotence, despair and anger, in the Senate of the Republic the activists and specialists who received “the slam” of the Presidency of the Republic offered a press conference to discuss section 5 of the Mayan Train, in which Quintana Roo senator Mayuli Martínez said that they are not against the project, but against the corruption and opacity with which the work is carried out.

Legislator Mayuli Martínez announced that all federal, state and municipal laws are being flouted in the construction of Section 5 of the Mayan Train, which, she said, “is also corruption in this country; We have already said that we are not opposed to the project, but we are against it being done by steam and with our eyes closed”.

He pointed out that it is important that the specialists be heard, for which it is necessary to go to the region, “we must invite the President of the Republic and his entire government to go to Quintana Roo, to get to know the area where the construction is taking place. of Section 5 of the Mayan Train that includes Cancun, Puerto Morelos, Playa del Carmen and Tulum.

The activists who are members of the “Sélvame del Tren” movement, said at the conference that it is a wake-up call because the construction of Section 5 in the middle of the jungle, which is being devastated and is damaging animal and plant species, would be a catastrophe. , as well as endless ecosystems.

In addition, they indicated, the conditions of the soil do not allow construction, since it is a karstic soil and there are countless caves, which means that at a certain moment the vault of the caverns will break and then they take lives.

Again, they launched a call to the Presidency of the Republic to listen to specialists and scientists, in order to prevent this work from taking lives and continuing to have high cost of money.

The senator announced that, given these circumstances, an urgent resolution point of agreement was proposed that urges the National Fund for the Promotion of Tourism (FONATUR) to urgently present the Executive Project of the Mayan Train work before the competent authorities for review according to law and, where appropriate, authorization; likewise, disclose a detailed report derived from the actions carried out in compliance with the previous resolution.
