One person was killed and four others wounded after dozens of shots were fired outside a Houston nightclub early Sunday morning, officials said.
Authorities believe that gunmen got out of a vehicle shortly after 2 a.m. and opened fire on people in a nightclub parking lot, Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said.
“It appears that more than 50 shots were fired, which is a very scary situation,” Gonzalez said, noting that there was a fast food truck near the scene.
According to Gonzalez, it appears that at least one AK-47 rifle was used during the shooting.
"It's about too much power that we're seeing on the streets," he added.
He said two men and three women were injured. One of the men died. Gonzalez indicated that the state of health of the other injured was unknown.
Police said they are looking for the attackers, who have not yet been identified.
Gonzalez asked that anyone with information contact police.
