A shooting in the Ecuadorian city of Guayaquil perpetrated on Friday night left at least four dead and 11 injured.

The Government of the state of Guayas announced that members of the Armed Forces Police moved to the Playita del Guasmo sector, in the south of Guayaquil, to initiate investigations and find the person or persons responsible for the shooting.
From the entity they indicated that a group of police officers were transferred to the hospital where the wounded from the shooting are located, for the protection of the injured.

In Guayaquil alone, at least 50 murders have been recorded in the first days of 2022.
Crimes of this type in Ecuador have increased by more than 121 cases, going from 76 murders (from January 1 to 21, 2021) to 197 in the first 21 days of 2022.
