Shooting attack on Mexican migrants leaves two dead and three injured in BC
A group of mexican migrants was attacked with bullets on Cerro de Cuchumá, in Tecate, Baja Californialeaving as balance two dead and three injuredreported the National Migration Institute (INM).
In a statement, the institute detailed that in the early hours of this Friday, September 29, 2023, elements of Grupo Beta Tecate they helped the 11 Mexicans that they managed to leave Cerro de Cuchumá after being attacked with firearms; In addition, they rescued an injured person and located the body of two deceased who were traveling in this group of migrants seeking to cross into the United States.
“Faced with the report from the Control, Command, Communication Center (C4) of the city of Tecate, Grupo Beta moved - in the company of other local security and rescue agencies - to the foot of the hill, where there were 11 compatriots who reported of one injured and two more who have lost their lives,” indicated the INM.
Shortly before dawn, Grupo Beta staff Tecate and elements from different aid and rescue corporations began the ascent to the point where the Mexican migrants were attacked; There, a man was found wounded by a firearm and two more without vital signs, all three of Mexican nationality.
Of the 11 Mexican migrants who were able to leave the mountain area, two women were taken to nearby health centers to be treated for gunshot wounds.
