Shooting at a 7-Eleven in Maryland

Montgomery County Police responded to a report of a shooting at the 7-Eleven located at 14101 Georgia Avenue in Silver Spring at approximately 3:18 a.m. on Sunday the 12th.

There officers located two victims, Enrique Devaul and Kristie Thrappas, both employees of the store.

Thrappas’s ex-boyfriend, Zekale Long, allegedly entered the 7-Eleven and shot Devaul, grazing his abdomen.

Detectives’ investigation determined that the adult male victim was in the store when the suspect entered and began arguing with him about dating his ex-girlfriend. The verbal argument turned into a physical altercation as the suspect brandished a handgun and fired a round at the victim.

The suspect fled the scene in a vehicle and was identified as Zekale Long, 41; he was subsequently arrested and transported to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit.

There he was charged with attempted murder in the first degree, and use of firearms during the commission of a violent crime.

Devaul told police that he and Thrappas recently started dating and that Long had been posting negative comments about their relationship on Facebook.
