According to local testimonies, the possibility that all crew members have died is high because the event was reported hours later. Meanwhile, rescue forces continue to search for possible survivors.
The local governments informed that they still do not have all the details of what happened while they urged the residents to refrain from making trips along the river because it is swollen by the rains.
River accidents occur occasionally in the African country due to the poor condition of the boats and the continuous changes in weather conditions.
Last January, ten people lost their lives as a result of the sinking of a precarious boat in the Niger River, specifically in the state of Kebbi.
