Morena's presidential candidate, Claudia Sheinbaum, recalled the massacre of students in Tlatelolco committed by the PRI government of Gustavo Díaz Ordaz in 1968.

In her social media accounts, the former head of Government of Mexico City spoke because there will never again be “authoritarian” or “repressive” governments.

“October 2 is not forgotten. Never again authoritarian governments that see young students who fight for freedom and democracy as enemies. Never again repressive governments willing to use bullets against social movements and opponents. Long live democracy and freedom. Long live the students,” she posted.

As a student at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), Claudia Sheinbaum was founder and leader of the University Student Council (CEU) when she was pursuing her Bachelor's degree in Physics.
