The student died of "multiple organ failure" at the Londrina University Hospital, where he remained hospitalized in a very serious condition.

At the age of 16, da Silva is the second fatality of the tragedy, after the death this Monday of his partner, Karoline Verri, the 17-year-old girl killed at the Professor Helena Kolody educational center, in the municipality of Cambé.

The 21-year-old attacker was arrested the day before, after entering the school address on the pretext of looking for his school records and opening fire. The Paraná government later confirmed the arrest of a second individual of the same age, suspected of having collaborated in organizing the attack.

The website of the Secretary of Public Security of that state specified that the attacker had been detained by a school teacher and officials. After the attack, police seized an axe, quick-change ammunition loads, and a 38-caliber revolver.

The teacher who immobilized the attacker "had undergone recent training and the police arrived at the school in just three minutes, which prevented an even greater tragedy," said the governor of Paraná, Carlos Ratinho Junior, on Monday.

While the agents investigate the motivation of the attacker, classes at the Professor Helena Kolody school were suspended until next week, as well as at other schools in Cambé, which resume teaching activities this Wednesday.
