The more than three thousand voting centers set up in national territory opened their doors so that Guatemalans can cast their votes during the second electoral round.

Guatemala will hold a second round of elections

Magistrates of the Supreme Electoral Tribunal (TSE) participated in the inaugural ceremony of the elections for the second round in Guatemala in the Erick Barrondo park in the capital city.

Prior to the start of the process, the Supreme Electoral Tribunal (TSE), through an official statement, urged Guatemalans to freely exercise their right to participate, vote and choose” during the second round of elections in the country.

In addition, he asked the population to "wait calmly for the dissemination of preliminary results" after election day.

In a symbolic gesture, the elections began with the first voter, identified as Alfonso Mardoqueo Lima, 79, who invited the youth to vote because "hope" is in them.

Prior to the elections, the Supreme Court of Justice of Guatemala unanimously granted provisional protection to the National Unity of Hope and orders the TSE that the preliminary results of tomorrow's elections correspond "faithfully and exactly to the scrutiny."

Guatemalans go to the polls during the second electoral round to elect Sandra Torres, from the UNE party, or Bernardo Arévalo, from Movimiento Semilla, as the country's next president.
