Santosh Vidit and Naka, to the Candidates Tournament 2023/11/06

Grandmaster Santosh Vidit and the American Hikaru Nakamura qualified for the World Title Candidates Tournament by placing first and second place yesterday in the general classification of the Grand Swiss FIDE Tournament in Douglas, Isle of Man, which took place from 25 October to November 5 with the presence of 114 elite players.

Vidit defeated the Russian Alexandr Predke in the last round while Nakamura, with black, tied with the Indian Arjun Erigaisi. Andrey Esipenko, with black, received a hard setback when he was defeated by Anish Giri.

The women's competition was won and qualified for the Candidates Tournament by the Indian Vaishali Rameshbabu, older sister of the prodigious Praggnanandha, who has also already qualified for the Candidates Tournament. Vasihali with 2,448 Elo points played for 2,655 points and achieved 8 ½ of possible eleven with a performance of (+6,=5-0).
