Mexico.- The former president of the Chamber of Deputies, Santiago Creel, declined his aspirations to be responsible for the construction of the Broad Front for Mexico in favor of his party partner, Senator Xóchitl Gálvez.
Creel's decision comes after it became known that Gálvez is the favorite of the supporters of the Front to lead the work towards the 2024 presidential elections, followed by the PRI member Beatriz Paredes, for which the licensed legislator pointed out that " no personal or party interest should be above Mexico.”
In the video shared on his social networks, Creel highlighted the joint work he has done with Xóchitl Gálvez since Vicente Fox's six-year term.
The PAN member also thanked those who received him in their States and recognized the work of the PRI and the PRD in building the Broad Front for Mexico.
“It is necessary to recognize the work of the PRI, it pacified the country after the revolution, made the transition from military to civilian power and gave it stability for many decades…the PRD embodies that left that embraced the electoral struggle without reserve and that was a determining driver of our democracy,” Creel asserted.
Hours before the announcement, the news was already a trend on social networks, encouraged by messages such as that of former President Vicente Fox, who shared one of the rumors and said "Mexico is worth it."
For his part, the national president of the PAN, Marko Cortés, thanked Creel for his decision and assured that the party values his generosity and recognizes that he puts Mexico above his personal interests.
