Gabriel Boric, President of Chili, received this Saturday the torch of the Pan American and Parapan American Games that will be held in Santiago Starting on October 20, the continental fire reached the Andean capital from Mexico.

The sports official noted:

Santiago 2023 will be a significant milestone that unites us in history and origins. We are excited to bring the energy of Mexico into this flame, which will mobilize and motivate us for the most important sporting event in our country. The lantern that brought the sacred fire lit from Teotihuacán came down from the plane in the hands of González and Abraham.

This Monday, October 2, three torches will start simultaneously from three different ends (Arica in the north, Punta Arenas in the south and Easter Island in the Pacific Ocean) and They will tour the entire country.

The fires will converge October 20 at the inauguration in Santiago National Stadium of the largest sporting event held in Chile since the 1962 World Cup.

“With joy, Rapa Nui awaits the arrival of the symbol of the Pan American Games in the next few hours. On Monday, October 2, the torch will travel through the main arteries of Hanga Roa, in an event eagerly awaited by the community,” the Municipality of Rapa Nui, the indigenous name of Easter Island.

The XIX Pan American Games will be celebrated from October 20 to November 5 and the VII Parapan American Games between November 17 and 26 in the Chilean capital and in other regions of the country such as the coast Valparaíso and the southern cities of O'Higgins and Biobío.
