Gabriel Boric, President of Chili, inaugurated this Thursday the facilities of the Villa Santiagowhere the athletes from 41 national delegations during the Pan American and Parapan American Gamesand which will later be enabled for vsocial housing.

Boric considered that this construction is a measure to strengthen the social fabric in the Andean country.

Here we are building a city, but that implies building spaces where we meet and recognize ourselves as a community.

The complex, located in the Metropolitan region, has 17 towers on six hectares where they are located 1,355 apartments that will be allocated, once the sporting event ends, to vulnerable families with subsidies from the Ministry of Housing.

It is not only the right to proper and decent housing. The right to a decent life implies accessibility to transportation, health, and education, and we are managing to work to integrate all of these things into a long-term work that comes from many governments.

At the event, held at the Cerrillos ParkAlso present were the Minister of Sports, Jaime Pizarro; the Minister of the General Secretariat of the Government, Camila Vallejo; the Minister of Housing, Carlos Montes; and the Undersecretary of Sports, Antonia Illanes.

“Our Government set an ambitious but realistic goal, that of build 260 thousand homes, “We have already delivered 70 thousand,” he stated. Boric, who highlighted the objectives of reducing the housing deficit and build “fairer” cities.

The Pan American and Parapan American Games will be held in the Chilean capital from October 20 to November 5 and of November 17 to 26, 2023, respectively.
