The Russian foreign minister, after meeting with his Indian counterpart, Subramanyan Jaishankar, stated at a press conference that: “We are in favor of providing security guarantees to Ukraine, and to all European countries.”

In this regard, Lavrov added that: “Russia agrees with the documents that have been adopted in the OSCE for many years and that proclaimed the principle that no country will strengthen its security at the expense of the security of others.”

Similarly, he referred to the possibility of India mediating the talks between Russia and Ukraine since: “India’s balanced position, which is not influenced by methods of blackmail or dictation, of course, inspires our respect.”

On the other hand, the head of the Russian delegation for the negotiations, Vladimir Medinsky, said that the talks with Ukraine will continue to be held online. In this regard he stated that: “We continue negotiations in the VKS mode. Our positions on Crimea and Donbass have not changed.”

However, another round of negotiations was held in Istanbul on Tuesday, attended in person by Russian and Ukrainian delegations. After this meeting, the Russian authorities confirmed that this was the last to be held in person.

At the same time, Medinsky asserted that Russia is preparing to carry out a couple of measures to defuse the crisis. The first is aimed at reducing military activity on kyiv and Chernigov, while the second is the possibility that the leaders of Russia and Ukraine, Vladimir Putin and Volodymyr Zelensky, respectively, meet.
