In a telephone conversation between the presidents of France and Russia, Emmanuel Macron and Vladimir Putin, about the crisis in Ukraine, the Russian president complained to Macron that the West has not taken into account Russia's security concerns, including that NATO does not continue its eastward expansion and offensive weapons are not deployed near Russian borders.

According to Vladimir Putin, the most recent response by the United States and its allies ignores the so-called principle of indivisibility of security established in the basic documents of the European Community Security Organization (OSCE) and the Russia-NATO Council, which stipulates that no one should strengthen their security at the expense of others.



Putin noted that the Russian side will carefully study the written answers received on January 26 from the United States and NATO to draft agreements on security guarantees, after which it will decide on its future actions.

Putin stressed the importance of strict compliance by Kiev with the provisions of the Minsk Agreements and other agreements, primarily in establishing a direct dialogue with Donetsk and Luhansk and legalizing the special status of Donbass.



Despite the current tension, both agreed to continue the dialogue on a variety of issues concerning European security.
