Russia and Iran agreed to sign what they called important agreements between the two countries on cooperation in oil and gas fields, as well as in the nuclear sector, according to information from Iran’s Oil Minister, Javad Oyi, offered this Thursday.

Oyi said that “very good agreements were reached with many powerful Russian companies to expand cooperation in the development of oil and gas fields, the construction of petrorefineries, the transfer of technology and technological equipment that this industry needs”, .

During the meeting between the authorities of Iran and Russia as part of the presidential visit, the expansion of economic ties, the elimination of bank tariffs and infrastructure barriers, the strengthening of joint investments in energy infrastructure projects, Oyi said.

For his part, the spokesman for the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI), Behruz Kamalvandi, confirmed that nuclear cooperation was one of what he called the most strategic issues on the agenda of the meeting held on Wednesday by Iranian President Ebrahim. Raisi, with his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin.

In this regard, the Persian official explained that the joint project to build additional units at the Bushehr nuclear plant is in line with Iran’s plan to generate at least 10,000 megawatts of electricity using nuclear energy.

During their meeting in the Kremlin on Wednesday, the two presidents explored ways to further enhance what they called excellent relations enjoyed by Russia and Iran in the nuclear energy sector, Kamalvandi said.

Previously, Tehran and Moscow had agreed on a joint project that included the expansion of cooperation for the use of radiation in the health sector, as well as the start-up of the first phase of the Bushehr nuclear power plant and the development of the second and third stages.
