Mexico.- Deputy Rubén Moreira Valdez, coordinator of the PRI Parliamentary Group, affirmed that Veracruz has serious governance problems, after making public the armed attack against the passengers of a truck that occurred yesterday Sunday on the Veracruz-Xalapa highway, and that claimed the lives of four adults and two minors.

"The recent scenes that were broadcast on social networks show a state with serious governance problems," the parliamentary leader said in a statement, while condemning the attack.

“In Veracruz there has been an increase in violence, and a good part of its territory is practically under the control of organized crime; It is important that Governor Cuitláhuac García assume responsibility for him and with all the strength of the state fight organized crime, ”he said.

He affirmed that peace will only be possible if state governments commit themselves and take action against drug trafficking.

The congressman leader questioned the action and presence of the governor of Veracruz in this affront, and demanded that the justice authorities of that entity act and punish those guilty of this act.

He maintained that peace is possible, and in this sense he gave as an example the states of Yucatán and Coahuila, "where the safety margins are similar to those of first world countries."

“The state of Coahuila was in 2012 one of the most dangerous in Mexico, the city of Torreón, one of the five most violent in the world; but crime was fought and public security policies were implemented that were successful, ”he said.

The PRI legislator insisted on the need for state leaders to carry out the corresponding actions against criminal groups, confronting them in coordination with federal and municipal security authorities.

Moreira Valdez spoke out for the non-repetition of violent acts that threaten the safety of the population and, more so when minors are involved.

According to the report of the Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), in the state of Veracruz, 74 intentional homicides were reported this year until yesterday, it ended.
