An elderly woman and her grandson who was barely 40 days old died when the taxi in which they were traveling collided with an ADO bus on the trans-isthmic highway, heading to Sayula de Alemán, on the morning of Sunday, September 1 .

The authorities reported that economical taxi number 79 from the municipality of José Azueta was driving at excess speed and when reaching an intersection it could not stop.

The baby was traveling in the taxi with his mother, grandmother and the driver of the unit, who could not stop and crashed into the right rear part of the bus that was heading to the Tinaja-Cosoleacaque toll booth.

The infant was transferred by paramedics from Federal Roads and Bridges to the Oluta regional hospital, but could not overcome the bruises; His mother, a young woman identified as Yulisa Vargas, 24, was reported in serious condition due to a wound in the aorta. The grandmother died at the scene.

Meanwhile, the taxi driver, identified as Adolfo Segundo, remains hospitalized and his health condition is also reported as delicate.

The section where the events occurred was closed to traffic for at least three hours to carry out the necessary procedures.
