Ron DeSantis gets his first endorsement from a governor for the Presidency in the 2024 election

Republican presidential candidate and governor of Florida, Ron DeSantis, won his first endorsement from a governor on Saturday, for the presidential primary of the Republican Party for the 2024 electiongranted by the governor of OklahomaKevin Stitt, according to CNN.
Introducing DeSantis at a special event in Tulsa hosted by the Never Back Down political action committee, Stitt said the Floridian is in step with his fellow Republicans as he keeps a steady hand amid the pandemic and political turmoil, according to NBC News.
“Governor DeSantis is a strong and principled conservative leader, and I am proud to endorse him for president,” said Stitt and praised DeSantis' handling of the COVID-19 pandemicarguing that the governor of Florida "did not surrender the rights of states and individual liberties to groupthink."
Stitt also said that DeSantis is "the right guy to beat Biden for the next eight years."
Speaking after Stitt at the event in Tulsa on Saturday, DeSantis Addressed Donald Trump's Impeachment Challenge and said that if he is elected, "you will have a clean Department of Justice from top to bottom."
Stitt is among the highest-profile endorsements DeSantis has earned to date.
Given the many Republicans support former President Donald Trump, DeSantis has won the support of four Republican members of Congress so far: Representatives Bob Good of Virginia, Laurel Lee of Florida, Thomas Massie of Kentucky and Chip Roy of Texas, who is one of his hardliners.
The endorsement followed news that 20 Oklahoma state lawmakers and former Republican U.S. Representative Jim Bridenstine also gave DeSantis their formal endorsements for president in 2024.
In accordance with the summary of voting intention surveys of the Republican candidates published by FiveThirtyEight, Trump has 53.8%, DeSantis with 21.3%, while Pence (5.4%), Haley (4.5%), Ramaswamy (3.5%), Scott (2.2%) and Hutchinson (0.7%) ) appear well below in the chart from the June 9, 2023 survey.
