Rocketeer: the Disney+ reboot hires its screenwriter

The classic of disney, Rocketeer (The Rocketeer) could take flight very soon with the incorporation of a new member for its reboot. In 2021, thirty years after the release of the original film, it was announced that a new version was in development for the company's exclusive platform. Now an advance in production is confirmed with the incorporation of Eugene Ashe as a screenwriter.

According to a recent report from The Wrap, Ashwho previously worked at Silvie's love (Sylvie's Love2020) and Homecoming (2012), will be in charge of writing the script for the second film inspired by the comic of the same name by Dave Stevens. The star of Silo, David Oyelowois in charge of directing and starring in the reboot as part of his first agreement with disney. Apparently, this new version of Rocketeer will focus on a retired Tuskegee airman who takes up the mantle of the titular character introduced in the film. Joe Johnston of 1991.

"ANDor was a big fan of the first one. I actually had the poster in my room when I was a teenager. It is a much-loved property, so being entrusted with it is a true privilege. We'll take care of the fans of the original and hopefully attract a new fan base.", advancement Oyelowo in an interview last year.

“In our movie, he's going to be a former Tuskegee Airman, so it's still in the '40s setting. We know we have to stick to the things that people loved about the first one. But that was 30 years ago, so we want to make a film that will resonate in the next 30 years and especially in the present. This is not the first time that an attempt has been made to revitalize the property of Rocketeer. In 2016 there were intentions to develop a new film with a female protagonist, provisionally titled The Rocketeers. However, like so many other projects, it was buried before taking off.

Since the next reboot of Rocketeer It is still in development stages, tentative filming and release dates are unknown. Regarding the original version starring Billy Campbell and Jennifer Connellyis currently available in the catalog of Disney+.
