'Ring of Fire': Live, the 2023 solar eclipse from cities in America | International
This Saturday the 2023 solar eclipse will be visible from the northwest of the United States and then pass through Mexico, Belize, Honduras, Nicaragua, the extreme north of Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia and northern Brazil. In some cities, it will only be possible to see partially if weather conditions allow it.
In Mexico, the phenomenon will be observable from archaeological sites in the Yucatan Peninsula where the Sun will be obscured by 90.5%. Cultural and recreational activities will be carried out in these areas to commemorate the event.
The location of the observer will also define the duration of the eclipse. In total, NASA estimates that the astronomical event will last between two and five minutes, being a little longer in the strip of areas where it will have better visibility.
Experts recommend using special eye protection such as specialized sunscreens or indirect vision methods. If observed directly, the “ring of fire” can cause serious damage to vision.
