Renew or Get Your Dog License Before February 1st at FAIRFAX

Get your annual dog license or renew it by Tuesday, February 1. The fee is $10 per dog, except for service dogs that receive free licenses.

After you submit your license or renewal application, a collar tag for your dog will be mailed to you.

If you are first licensed, you must provide a current rabies vaccination certificate. When renewing, proof of vaccination is not required unless the certificate has expired.

Here’s what you need to do before the February 1 deadline, even if you no longer have a dog, your beloved companion has passed away, or you’ve moved out of Fairfax County.

You should have received a renewal notice in the mail in November from the Department of Tax Administration.

You can renew and pay online. There is a third-party service fee for online payments with electronic checks, credit and debit cards.

Check your renewal notice to find your dog’s registration number and previous license number, which you’ll need to renew online. If you do not have this information on hand or did not receive a renewal notice, please contact the Department of Revenue Administration at 703-222-8234, TTY 711, Monday through Friday, 8 am to 4:30 pm or by email.
