The volleyball match between the Nebraska Cornhuskers and the NCAA Omaha Mavericks at Memorial Stadium in Nebraska (United States) welcomed 92,003 spectators, setting a new world attendance record for a women's sporting event. With these more than 92,000 people, the match of the women's university volleyball league broke what was then the record, on April 22, 2022, when 91,648 fans filled the stands of the Camp Nou to watch the semifinals of the Women's Champions League between the Bar莽a and Wolfsburg. In addition, this new milestone also breaks the United States national record for attendance at a sporting event, in force since July 10, 1999. It was then that 90,185 people enjoyed the World Cup final between the United States and China at the Rose Bowl of Pasadena California. Out of the 24 NCAA sports, volleyball now ranks third in attendance records, behind FBS football (156,990) and men's ice hockey (113,411). Thus, it surpasses men's basketball (with 80,000 as a ceiling), men's soccer (22,000) and baseball (16,000). In the historic match for women's sports, the University of Nebraska Cornhuskers defeated the Omaha Mavericks 3-0.
