The Peruvian population remains expectant for the rains of strong intensity that was already predicted by the National Meteorology and Hydrology Service (Senamhi) nationwide for the next few days. The institution issued a crucial alert that involves 20 regions, some of which have already been feeling the intense rainfall.

The organization issued a first alert to inform that the mountain range of Peru would report heavy rains between the 23rd and October 25; However, it recently launched its advisory No. 234 as an extension of No. 233, to detail that rainfall will continue until Friday the 27th of this month. Given this, the concern of citizens increased, due to the fear that ravines would be activated or that landslides and floods would occur.

“Senamhi reports that, from Thursday, October 26 to Friday, October 27, precipitation (snow, hail, sleet and rain) of moderate to strong intensity will continue in the mountains.

Likewise, isolated rain of light intensity is expected in districts of the central and northern coast.

According to Senamhi, on Thursday, October 26, accumulated rain close to 18 mm/day in the northern highlands, 16 mm/day in the central highlands and values close to 12 mm/day in the southern highlands. These possible parameters, for the moment, do not present a great risk to citizens, which is why the notice specifies that it is an 'orange' danger level.

“Meteorological warnings are preventive forecasts in the event of severe events, indicating the areas that could be affected and the level of danger,” clarified the organization that forecasts the climate throughout the country.
