Former Chinese minister Qu Dongyu was re-elected this Sunday as director general of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) during the current 43rd session of the entity's Conference, which is being held in Rome, Italy.

Qu was first elected in June 2019 to head the UN agency and is the first Chinese national to hold the post. The election took place during the FAO Conference, which takes place from 1 to 7 July in Rome.
