Qatar 2022: Official poster presented for the XXII edition of the World Cup | Video


After being defineds 32 teams invited to the final phase, the official poster of Qatar World Cup 2022 was presented this Wednesday in Doha, a work created by the Qatari artist Bouthayna Al-Muftah and “represents the throwing of traditional headdresses into the air, something that symbolizes the celebration and the love of football in Qatar and in the Arab world.”

The presentation of this poster took place at the Hamad International Airport, located in the Qatari city of Doha. FIFA reported that for the first time a series of posters for the tournament, all designed by the same artist; the seven side posters “They show the passion of the Arab world for football and the game as something that unites families.”

On its creation, Al Muftah explained:

My main inspiration was the concept of collective memory. Most of my work focuses on past experiences, on memories, linking them to the present and archiving them in a contemporary way. I wanted the posters to follow this theme and tell the story of Qatari football culture.

I wanted each poster to show the celebration and football fans in Qatar. The main poster shows the ‘gutra’ and ‘egal’ (traditional headgear) waving in the air in celebration, something fans do here when a goal is scored.

While, Jean Francois PathyFIFA marketing director mentioned that the poster is “an atmospheric reflection of Qatar’s artistic and football heritage” and assured that in Qatar they are very proud of this work that shows the passion that exists in the Arab world for this sport.

With the classification of Costa Ricathey are ready 32 teams that will participate in the XXII edition of the World Cup, first to be held at the end of the year, scheduled for Monday, November 21 to Sunday, December 18.
