Putin announces that the intercontinental ballistic missile ‘Sarmat’ will be ready by the end of 2022
Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on Tuesday that the intercontinental ballistic missile ‘Sarmat’ will be ready by the end of 2022a key piece of Moscow’s weapons arsenal and capable of achieve targets throughout Europe and even in the United States.
“A test launch of the heavy intercontinental missile ‘Sarmat’ has already been successfully carried out and It is expected to enter service towards the end of the year.asserted the president, who assured that the Russian Armed Forces “do not stop improving.”
“Our Armed Forces are perfecting themselves in all the most important branches. (…) There is no doubt that we will be even stronger,” he said, according to information collected by state news agencies.
In this sense, he pointed out that Moscow “will continue to develop and strengthen its Armed Forces taking into account military threats and potential risks” for the country, while “learning from contemporary armed conflicts”.
At the end of April, the Russian president said he was confident that this new missile dissuade those who are trying to “threaten” Russia and assured after a ballistic test that the ‘Sarmat’ can circumvent the existing defense systems.
