The murder of Victor Manuel Salas Cuadras, regional prosecutor in Tierra Caliente, Guerrero, has to do with a reaction by organized crime to the operations and seizures that were carried out in previous days. This was announced by the Secretary of the Interior, MarĂ­a Alcalde, in the morning conference on September 11.

The prosecutor's body was found lifeless on the night of Saturday, September 9. His body was found near the bridge Jaripo Town, about 10 kilometers from the municipal seat, next to federal highway 134 in the direction of Zihuatanejo.

In this regard, Mayor Luján (who led the "morning" due to the absence of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador), indicated that a investigation about it to clarify what happened. However, at the moment there are no reports on the alleged perpetrators.

The incident began around 11:00 pm on Saturday when the authorities were alerted by a shooting in the vicinity of the House of Culture in Coyuca from Catalan. When they arrived at the scene, they found an abandoned official van.

A few minutes later, the prosecutor's body was located. Local sources reported that Salas Cuadras was kidnaped shortly after leaving home. The perpetrators were armed and traveled in luxury vans. It is presumed that they could be members of the Michoacana Family, but the authorities have not confirmed it.

The prosecutor had been threatened by organized crime six months ago and, on that occasion, he had to withdraw from the region escorted by military personnel and the National Guard.

The State Attorney General, Sandra Luz Valdovinos Salmerón, had transferred Salas Cuadras to Tierra Caliente as part of a rotation scheme that is carried out regularly in the unit. This murder joins a series of incidents that call security in Guerrero into question.
