The prosecutor of the Persons and Guarantees Unit of the Ecuadorian city of Guayaquil, Édgar Escobar, 43 years old, was assassinated this Monday in front of the headquarters of the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE), reported the public ministry.

“The prosecutor of the United Persons Unit and the prosecutor of the Persons and Guarantees Unit of Guayaquil, Édgar Escobar, was shot this morning in front of the La Merced building,” reported the Attorney General’s Office.
Two people were arrested after the murder this Monday of a prosecutor in the Ecuadorian province of Guayas, reported the State Attorney General’s Office.
That source reported on his Twitter account that the prosecutor of the Persons and Guarantees Unit of the coastal city of Guayaquil, Édgar Escobar, “was shot this morning in front of the La Merced building of the Prosecutor’s Office.”
And he pointed out that two suspects in the murder of prosecutor Escobar were arrested on Santa Ana hill, in Guayaquil, capital of the province of Guayas, located in southwestern Ecuador.
At the moment, the causes of the attack and the murder are unknown, but the Police are already investigating the fact. In addition, it was indicated that the 43-year-old prosecutor was carrying out investigations into the massacres at the Litoral Penitentiary and other criminal cases.

The area of the attack was fenced off so that criminalistics personnel could carry out the pertinent investigations.
