This Wednesday, the day before the inauguration of the LXV Caribbean Baseball Series in Gran Caracas 2023, the president of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, handed over to the Caribbean Baseball Confederation the Simón Bolívar Monumental Stadium in Caracas, one of the two headquarters of the event and the one that will host the initial match between the local and Panama.

“I officially hand over the Simón Bolívar Monumental Stadium to the Caribbean Professional Baseball Confederation, the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League and all the teams,” said the president at the ceremony.
The sports facility was received by the Caribbean Professional Baseball Commissioner, Juan Francisco Puello, and the president of the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League (LVBP), Giuseppe Palmisano.

“The Simón Bolívar Monumental Stadium in Caracas will be a sports school for boys, girls and young people. Future generations of major leaguers will come out of this modern sports facility, who will bring great joy to our country,” said the Bolivarian leader, referring to to the utility of the stadium after the Caribbean Series.
Commissioner Puello, for his part, praised the work of the Venezuelan Government in the management and “the magnificent contribution of the Organizing Committee” to build this modern colossus and develop the first Caribbean Series with eight participating teams.
The Monumental de Caracas Simón Bolívar, which will be the venue for 21 of the 32 games in the tournament, has the capacity to hold 38,000 fans and becomes the second largest in the region, only surpassed by the Latin American Stadium in Cuba with 55,000 capacities .
The land has a giant screen, led lighting and high-quality artificial grass that allows hybridization with natural grass in the future.
In addition, the enclosure has access ramps, elevators, VIP boxes, several press rooms and store areas for the dispensing of food, drinks and clothing.
