President of Cuba highlights the inclusive nature of the Family Code | News

The president of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel, highlighted this Friday the inclusive nature and respect for diversity of the proposal for the new Family Code, whose referendum will be on September 25.

During the ninth regular session of the National Assembly of People’s Power, the president appreciated that said rule is the concretion of Marti’s maxim, “with everyone and for the good of all”, and that it guarantees respect for the family diversities present in Cuban society.

The head of state pointed out that it is a law of love and peace, while recognizing the legal proposal as a “Code of affections”, which seeks respect in the recognition of all people.

The president asserted that this Code protects “human dignity and the recognition of families as a union of people linked by affective, sentimental ties in a way that supports each other.”

On the other hand, he insisted that the code recognizes older adults as subjects of rights and duties and opens the door for people with disabilities to decide on the reins of their lives.

Likewise, he recognized that this regulation is a commitment to settle the debts of the past, train in the future, and makes it possible to “educate respect and the reciprocal nature of care in the culture”.

“International relations are going through a dangerous scenario, the cost is already being suffered by millions of people,” the president stressed, stressing that “the US offensive aimed at subjugating states through the expansion of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) leads inevitably to a climate of tension and conflict whose consequences are unpredictable”.

The president also explained that coercive measures imposed on sovereign states, in order to extract concessions from them, do not provide political successes, and that is why the world admires the Cuban Revolution.

The chief executive said that the United States (US) have tried to force a popular uprising in Cuba, have promoted unconventional warfare and deployed extensive media propaganda.

On the other hand, he insisted on making non-commercial imports more flexible, ordering the foreign exchange market, sustaining social programs, paying debts, and reducing the budget deficit.

The president highlighted the importance of greater efficiency and control of public spending, timely information, planning and solidarity savings. In addition, he spoke about the relevance of supporting the transformation of neighborhoods, policies for youth, working on cultural decolonization and popular control.

National energy situation

President Díaz-Canel Bermúdez reiterated his commitment to work to solve the energy situation in the country, affirming that recovery is in the medium and long term, even though he stressed that work is being done daily in accordance with the outlined strategy.

In addition, he explained that the entire strategy that has been set up does not provide instant solutions, but they are working with specialists and qualified personnel for such tasks.

“There is a strategy in place and a group of negotiations are taking place. In the remainder of the year there are resources to make major repairs. There are other negotiations that are on the right track in relation to renewable energy sources. But all of that takes time,” he communicated.



During his speech, he asked the population for understanding and stated that “nobody here puts out blackouts to bother anyone, that here they are working hand in hand with few resources and all the talent of our workers.”

Díaz-Canel asked to maintain unity at this time. “We have to stay united to face the situation,” he said and also pointed out that there are some people who, to express their discomfort, which is legitimate, go to the pot blast, shout expressions against the leaders, some take the opportunity to say slogans against of the Revolution.

“If we save, we demand less, and if we demand less we will have more generation capacity; that is the most supportive, altruistic and revolutionary thing we can do now, ”she raised.
