The Brazilian Presidency had already anticipated Lula's visit to Italy and the Vatican on May 31, when Lula spoke to the pontiff on the phone and invited him to Brazil.
This audience is part of the international trips made by the progressive leader to "replace Brazil in the world", after four years of relative isolation under the mandate of former President Jair Bolsonaro, explained the Planalto Palace.
The South American head of state will meet this Wednesday with his Italian counterpart, Sergio Matarella, with whom he will address, among other issues, cooperation projects in the defense field.
Subsequently, Lula da Silva will travel to France this Thursday where he will participate in the summit for a new global financial pact and will meet the next day with his colleague Emmanuel Macron.

Similarly, Lula will discuss with Macron the ratification of the Mercosur-European Union agreement after the new demands approved by the French Parliament regarding environmental issues.
"I want to discuss the question of the approval by the French Parliament of the hardening of the agreement between Mercosur and the European Union. The European Union cannot try to threaten Mercosur with punishments," said the Brazilian president.
