Popular Movement Repudiates Coup Attempt in Brazil | News

Union and popular organizations that make up the Popular Fronts of Brazil, the Povo Sem Medo Front, the Forum of Trade Union Centrals, the Black Coalition for Rights and the Black Convergence called this Monday for events throughout Brazil in repudiation of the attempted coup of the eve.

According to the call, the organizations demand that all those responsible for the invasion of the headquarters of the Three Powers be punished and that there be no amnesty for those who encouraged attacks on the rule of law even before the act, such as former President Jair Bolsonaro .

The events in all the regions and capitals have already been confirmed and several municipalities in the country will be the scene of demonstrations in defense of democracy.



Likewise, the statement expresses that they repudiate "the terrorist and coup action of Bolsonaro groups. We cannot accept that terrorist groups such as these continue to threaten the democratic rule of law."

On the other hand, the movements also propose holding a political act in Brasilia next Wednesday, which will be "focused on the defense of democracy, on the repudiation of the attacks on the institutions of the Republic carried out by fascists this Sunday and on the defense that those who financed and committed the crimes be held accountable,” the call states.

According to the signatories, "we will carry out these demonstrations in alliance with all the leaders, authorities and sectors of society committed to defending the Democratic State of Law," the note concludes.

Acts of solidarity with the Brazilian people are also being called in different parts of the world. In Rome, New York and Barcelona there are already confirmed demonstrations.
