A plane crashed into a residential building in the city of Medellin Colombia, leaving a balance of at least 8 people dead.

The PA31 aircraft operated by San Germán, with registration HK5121, was destined for Piizarro-Choco. Six passengers and two crew members were traveling in it; all were fatalities, reported the Olaya Herrera Airport.

A team of aeronautical firefighters and the Disaster Risk Management Administrative Department (DAGRD) went to the site to attend to the accident. Likewise, the Emergency Plan was activated.

He also explained that when taking off he reported an engine failure and was unable to return to the Olaya Herrera airport, from where he left.

According to the first reports, the plane was flying low. Later, neighbors reported that they heard an explosion.

Currently, a team of experts from the Technical Directorate of Accident Investigation of the Civil Aeronautics of Colombia, investigates the causes of the accident.

The Airport continues to operate, but it is possible that there may be changes in its itineraries, the venue noted.
