Paraguay begins immunization with bivalent vaccine against Covid-19 | News
Paraguayan authorities confirmed on Tuesday the application as an annual reinforcement of 100,000 doses of the bivalent vaccine against Covid-19 produced by the US laboratory Moderna.

The Ministry of Health and Social Welfare indicated that it will dispense the drug that contains two different types of antigens in its formula, one from the original strain of the disease originating in the Chinese city of Wuhan and another from the circulating Omicron variant.
The health entity explained that as part of the Expanded Immunization Program, preventive work will begin in all vaccination centers that make up the plan against Covid-19 of the South American nation.
The institution stated that people 18 years of age and older will be able to access the updated bivalent dose, while pregnant women will only be able to receive the drug from 12 weeks of gestation under medical prescription.
The health portfolio specified that the drug will be administered with the frequency of once a year, especially in the winter season, when the campaigns focus on immunization against influenza.
Paraguay registered 806,256 cases of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, which causes Covid-19, from January 7, 2020 to January 21, while between January 15 and 21, 2023, 413 positives for the disease have been confirmed. and 73 new hospitalized patients.
