The former Secretary of Security of Mexico City, Omar García Harfuch, will be the candidate of the National Regeneration Movement party (Morena) to occupy the position of head of Government of the Mexican capital.

Harfuch won with 40.5 percent of the preferences in the ruling party's survey of Clara Brugada, who obtained 26.7 percent of support, being the best positioned woman.

The politician obtained the highest vote intention by obtaining 10 percentage points among all the candidates.



Omar García Harfuch was in charge of Citizen Security in Mexico City, during the heads of government of Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo and Martí Batres Guadarrama.

Despite coming in second place, Clara Brugada could be the Coordinator of Morena in the capital, due to the gender parity criteria where the party has to present 5 women and 4 men candidates for the elections in 9 entities on next 2 June.
