North Korean President Kim Jong-un announced on Monday that he will strengthen and develop the country’s nuclear weapons as quickly as possible.

Kim Jong-un stressed that Pyongyang will prepare thoroughly to be able to use nuclear deterrence at any time and warned that any foreign force seeking a military confrontation will cease to exist.

The North Korean leader reiterated that the essential mission of its nuclear weapons is to deter to avoid a war scenario, but that they can be used if the country’s interests are attacked.



Kim Jong-un stated that the country’s nuclear weapons are a symbol of national power and should be diversified.

The North Korean leader’s remarks took place amid the grand military parade commemorating the 90th anniversary of the founding of the Korean People’s Revolutionary Army in Pyongyang’s Kim Il Sung Square.

The Korean People’s Revolutionary Army was created on April 25, 1932 by the country’s founder, Kim Il-sung, as an anti-Japanese independence guerrilla force, and is considered the forerunner of today’s Korean People’s Army.
