According to official North Korean media, an artillery unit of the North Korean People's Army (KPA) launched two projectiles that flew 395 and 337 kilometers from a 600-mm multiple rocket launcher.

In this sense, the sources specified that it is a powerful means of "tactical nuclear attack", which could destroy an aerodrome in operation with the launch of four of its projectiles.

For its part, the South Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff said that "our armed forces detected two short-range ballistic missiles fired from areas of Sukchon in South Pyongan province between 07:00-07:11 (21:00-22:11 GMT) this morning."

Similarly, the South Korean authorities condemned the most recent missile launches, however, they described the action as a "significant provocation" to the detriment of regional and international peace and stability.

Instead, the sister of the North Korean president, Kim Yo-jJong, expressed through a statement that "the frequency with which we will use the Pacific as our firing range will depend on the actions of US forces."

At the same time, he stressed that "we are well aware that the movements of US forces with strategic strike capabilities are recently accelerating on the Korean peninsula."

Accordingly, he noted that "we are carefully analyzing the influence that this will have on the security of our State, and we are going to make it an established fact once again to take equivalent countermeasures if it is judged as a direct or indirect threat."

Last Sunday, South Korea and the US conducted a joint air exercise involving F-35, F-15 and F-16 fighter jets, which were escorted by US B-1B bombers.
