NFL: Super Bowl in London? Roger Goodell: "it's not impossible"
Roger Goodell commissioner of the NFLstated this Saturday that it has considered the possibility that London shelter a superbowl .
In a forum held with British fans prior to the duel between Tennesee Titans and the Baltimore Ravens (16-24) In London, the commissioner noted:
It is not impossible; It's something we've discussed. As the international series develops perhaps that will be a possibility as we play more games here (London).
The first regular season game played in the English capital was in 2007, when the New York Giants They won 13-10 against the Miami Dolphins in the stadium Wembley.
Since then, they have been played 36 games in this city, the most the league has made outside the United States, including This year's Jaguars-Falcons, Bills-Jaguars and Titans-Ravens.
Goodell recognized that, despite the attractiveness of having a match for the championship of the NFL in London, They do not forget the importance of this event for American cities.
I believe that being able to play the Super Bowl in each of our cities is a huge economic boost for them and our fans; although we must recognize that here in London we also have great fans.
The next three Super Bowls are scheduled to be played in the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, in February 2024; he Caesars Superdome New Orleansin February 2025: and the Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, Californiaa, in February 2026.
The commissioner did not specify whether from 2027 London would have the opportunity to be considered among the venues to host the dispute over the Vince Lombardi trophy, but he did not completely rule out that possibility either.
I think that is not ruled out, it is something that we believe would make sense, although for now we will maintain our formula of playing Super Bowls in cities that have an NFL franchise.
