The victims were identified as Luis Martínez Lara Mendoza, 41, Breiner Daniel Cervantes Barrios, 20, and José Luis Domínguez Gonzáles, 22; reported the police authorities.

This is the sixth massacre that has occurred this year in Barranquilla and its metropolitan area, of which four of them occurred in the capital itself and another two in the town of Soledad.

The bloodiest of the recent massacres occurred the previous month when gunmen murdered six people who were in a ranch in the Las Flores neighborhood of Barranquilla.

Indepaz has indicated that the Ombudsman's Office had issued the so-called Early Warning 037/2020 in which it indicates as an element of vulnerability that prevention policies are based on the presence of armed institutions, in particular the Police.

In this sense, Indepaz points out that, in this way, the structural causes of insecurity in the country are not attacked and the risk factors in the population are ignored.

In the area, the Institute denounces, the so-called Gaitanista Self-Defense Forces of Colombia (AGC), Los Costeños and Los Rastrojos are present.
