Musk extends reading limits on Twitter and says his ad was the most read
Businessman Elon Musk, owner of Twitter, extended the limits to the reading of tweets who imposed Saturday and pointed out this Sunday the "irony" that the same tweet in which he announced them became the most read publication to date.
Musk announced on Saturday that to prevent “extreme levels of data mining and system manipulation”verified accounts could read a maximum of 6,000 tweets a day, unverified 600, and new unverified accounts 300, although he later made concessions.
In a few hours, Musk backtracked a couple of times and expanded the limits to 10,000 tweets for verified accounts, 1,000 for unverified ones, and 500 for new unverified accounts.
Nevertheless, the initial announcement of the limits caused a stir on the net, At the same time, many users reported problems accessing the content, and that first message accumulated more than 455 million readings this Sunday morning.
“In another exercise of irony, this publication has achieved a record number of views!”, indicated the businessman, who sarcastically commented in another message how users were reaching the reading limits "by reading about the limits" and complaining about the measure.
According to the Downdetector monitoring page, problems accessing the social network peaked after the initial announcement, with some 7,000 reports, but they normalized throughout the day and this Sunday morning they did not exceed 1,000.
Other than that, Musk retweeted a message from an account parodying him, giving him a possible show of approvalwho said that the reason for imposing these limits is that "we are all addicted to Twitter and we need to get out there."
He himself made a comment that seemed to allude to that idea this Sunday: “You wake up from a deep trance, you walk away from the phone to see your friends and family.”
