More than 1,400 migrants rescued in Italy in two days | News
The Italian Coast Guard announced on Wednesday the rescue of more than 1,400 people after carrying out a series of operations carried out on Monday and Tuesday.

The actions were carried out between the Italian Coast Guard and the European Border and Coast Guard Agency (Frontex).
The first of the rescues was carried out during the early hours of this Monday when two patrols from Rocella Ionica and Catania, respectively, and one from Frontex managed to save 590 migrants who were traveling in a fishing boat about 60 kilometers from Crotona.

The Coast Guard vessel Deciotti, with the support of Frontex's 'MAI 1107' and two patrol boats, then participated in the rescue of a second boat carrying 650 migrants.
Then another coastal patrol from Crotona rescued another 47 migrants from a sailboat, including two children who required immediate medical help.
Finally, about 125 kilometers from Capo Rizzuto, Calabria, another 130 migrants were seized by a coast guard patrol boat and a Finance Guard unit.
According to Frontes, Italy was the European country with the highest reception of migrants in the first quarter of 2023 with 27,651 entries between January and March, triple the figure registered in the same period of 2022.
