MLS is back

The 2022 Major League Soccer season kicks off on Saturday, February 26 with an opening weekend packed with 14 exciting soccer matchups that North American fans have been craving for months.

Matches are available on a variety of live TV streaming channels and services, with ESPN Plus being the primary service for MLS fans who want to watch 10 of the 14 games this weekend.

Last season culminated in a Final between the Portland Timbers and New York City FC. NYCFC won on penalties after a 1-1 draw in regulation and overtime. It was NYCFC’s first MLS Cup championship, and the first time a New York professional sports team has won a major national championship since the Giants won the Super Bowl in 2012.

This is the 27th season of Major League Soccer, and the earliest start the season has seen. New to the league this year will be Charlotte FC, the 28th team in MLS, playing at Bank of America Stadium, home of the NFL’s Carolina Panthers.

The entry MLS is back was first published in Washington Hispanic.
