MLB: Mexican Alejandro Kirk is recognized as the best catcher at bat | Video

The Tijuana Alexander Kirkof the Toronto Blue Jayswas awarded the prize American League ‘Silver Slugger’ after a historic season for the catcher.

The award is presented annually tos better with the bat of each position from both the National and American Leagues, and the winners are selected by managers and coaches from the various franchises in the Big Tent.

Kirk24 years old, is the first player to win the award with the Canadians at the catcher positionIn addition to being his first recognition since joining the Major Leagues in 2016, coming from the Tijuana Bulls of the Mexican Baseball League.

In the campaign, ‘Captain Kirk’ he signed up 14 homersdrove in 63 runs in 139 games played and had a batting percentage of .285.

The Tijuana joins Fernando ‘El Toro’ Valenzuela (1981,1983), Vinicio Castile (1995,1997,1999) and Yovani Gallardo (2010), like those the only Mexicans to be recognized with the emblematic award.
