México consigue su primer triunfo en una Copa Mundial de Beisbol Femenil
La selección mexicana hizo historia el miércoles en el Baseball Centran de Thunder Bay, Canadá, al obtener la primer victoria de su historia en una Copa Mundial de Beisbol Femenino WBSC.
Las nacionales se impusieron por marcador de 16-8 a Australia en entradas extras, por lo que se mantienen en la contienda por un lugar en las Finales del próximo año.
México se recuperó así de una dura derrota el martes contra Canadá en su debut, ofreciendo así una sólida actuación ofensiva para lograr una victoria muy necesaria.
El partido fue una montaña rusa con cuatro cambios de liderato.
Australia se adelantó en la primer entrada, pero México remontó en la parte alta de la tercera, donde anotaron cinco carreras. En la parte baja Australia volvió empatar el juego 5-5.
Pero el ataque tricolor no cesó y retomó la delantera. Para la séptima entrada la ventaja ya era de 8-5, pero un error defensivo abrió la puerta a unas oceánicas se rehusaron a perder y volvieron a empatar la pizarra gracias a dos carreras impulsadas del bate de Tiara Geldenhuist, enviando el juego a extra innings.
Fue en el octavo episodio donde México sentenció el encuentro, anotando 8 carreras mas incluidas tres gracias a una bomba de Diana Ibarra, que fue seleccionada jugadora de la jornada.
Con la victoria, el registro de México es de 1-1 y este jueves se medirán en un duelo decisivo a Hong Kong, China. Australia por su parte marcó su segunda derrota en el torneo.
Al momento, el Grupo A, donde se encuentra México, es liderado por Canadá y Estados Unidos, con récord de 2-0 para ambas, Hong Kong y México disputan la tercera posición con 1-1, y Australia con Corea son últimas con cero victorias.
El beisbol mexicano está teniendo uno de sus mejores años, ya que, unidos a la victoria sobre Australia, el equipo varonil finalizó tercero en el Clásico Mundial de Beisbol 2023, además de coronarse campeones en los Juegos Centroamericanos y del Caribe.
