Mexicano hid from Hamas for 60 hours; he was missing
A Mexican and his Panamanian wife, reported missing after the start of the Hamas terrorist group's attacks against Israel, appeared alive yesterday.
These are David Heiblum and Daryelis Denises Sáez Batista, both in good condition, both countries confirmed.
“David Heiblum's father informs us that his son was not taken hostage and is safe,” reported Mexican Foreign Minister Alicia Bárcena.
The Israeli ambassador in Panama, Itai Bardov, also confirmed the appearance of both on the social network X.
“I am very happy to announce that Daryelis has been found along with her husband,” said the diplomat.
The couple was in a bomb shelter, the Central American country's foreign ministry also reported.
His relatives spoke in the same sense and shared the happiness of the announcement.
“A couple of hours ago they told us that David and Denises, his wife, David is Mexican, his wife Denises is from Panama, they were found there in the kibbutz alive and well,” Shirley Heiblum, sister of the Mexican citizen, said in a television interview.
According to Shirley Heiblum, her brother and his wife managed to get to safety in a hiding place, spending 60 hours sheltered.
“It was the best news I have had in the midst of this difficult time,” Yisrael, David's brother, told the portallinkojudio.com.
The couple lives in Kibbutz Kisofim, located two kilometers from the Gaza Strip, southern Israel.
It is an agricultural community in which the population lives and works collectively.
Kisofim stands out for its milk production and avocado crops.
Last Saturday, the Hamas terrorist group invaded Israel and took hostages.
That same day, at 1:00 p.m. (local time) the family lost contact with them.
At one in the afternoon Israel time there was no longer any communication with them,” Shirley Heiblum told the newspaper. The Pressfrom Panama.
Daryelis, who is an educator by profession, related that she saw the terrorists disguised as soldiers of the Israeli armed forces and shooting.
“Daryelis, until the last moment in which we were able to communicate with her, transmitted us signs of optimism and kindness, as she always has,” her family said in a statement.
“His simple, positive character and his constant search for good are examples to follow,” the family members highlighted in a statement.
Currently, two Mexican citizens are missing after that incursion, presumably kidnapped.
They were identified as Ilana Gritzewsky and Orión Hernández Radoux.
The president of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, reported early that three Mexican citizens were missing in Israel, although he did not specify if one of them was David Heiblum.
