Mexican Soccer Federation analyzes DT options for the 2026 and 2030 World Cups
The Mexican Soccer Federation is in the analysis stage for the designation of the technical director of the selection that leads the process towards the 2026 and 2030 World Cupinformed this Thursday the president of the organization Ivar Sisniega.
The manager clarified that the current interim coach, 'Jimmy' Lozanois part of that stage of analysis, and that the result obtained in the Gold Cup Final will not determine the decision.
Later, in a video published by the FMF, Sisniega added.
We will be carrying out a documented, transparent and efficient process for the purposes of this project that is aimed at the 2026 and 2030 World Cups. The process that we are carrying out is bigger than choosing a technical director, we are looking at the complete package of structure and personnel of all selections.
"No coach has the magic wand to fix everything," he added.
The FMF appointed Jaime Lozano on June 19 as interim technical director for the Gold Cup, a tournament in which Mexico will play the Final against Panama this Sunday.
Lozano, who led Mexico to the bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021, replaced Argentine Diego Cocca, who had been in charge for four months.
The coach's analysis will be done regardless of the result on Sunday, we are not going to choose a coach based on whether he wins or loses a game. What happens on Sunday is not going to determine the future of 'Jimmy' Lozano, whom I consider a great coach who can contribute a lot to us, and who of course should be one of the candidates.
