Mexican Football Federation goes all out against discrimination in stadiums: this will be the strategy
The president of the Mexican Football Federation (FMF), Yon de Luisa, announced Monday that the body will launch an offensive to eradicate discrimination against fans in national team matches.
In a press conference, De Luisa explained that the Court of Arbitration for Sport (TAS) granted that the sanctions against Mexico by FIFA do not take effect until a final solution is taken, but the Federation will not allow the public in the matches anyway. against Costa Rica, on January 30 and Panama, on February 2.
“Before Costa Rica and Panama we will not open the stadium to the public; We will use those matches with a group of 2,000 fans to test the new policy and process of access to the matches of the national team”
The FMF launched a four-point plan to identify those who for a few years have been yelling “fucking” at the goalkeepers of rival teams, the first of which will be that fans must register their ticket with personal data on a website that will throw a code, which they must present with their identification to enter the stadium.
According to the director, a healthy coexistence without discriminatory acts will be promoted at the venue and the number of guards trained to identify and remove from the stadium those who engage in acts of discrimination will be increased.
“Retired people will not be able to attend national team matches for a period of five years”
The Mexican soccer chief insisted on adopting a position of zero tolerance for any offensive or discriminatory manifestation in the stadiums and thanked those who joined the actions against the cry, especially the fans.
“If this works, it will be a measure that will echo in clubs. We have to do well in the national team so that the clubs can evaluate it “
According to Yon de Luisa, the measure is not designed to prevent the resale of tickets, but it will affect it.
“It will have a drastic effect because everyone who buys will have to register and carry their identification to have the code,” he concluded.
